Something magical happens when kids get old enough to read chapter books. They start disappearing for hours at a time. And they’re quiet. But they’re not getting into trouble!
My little ones often read books during independent play time each afternoon. They go from toys to books, and if you can bring out seasonal books for them to enjoy, all the better.

FAQs
Continue to read – many times toddlers will walk around and play and then come back to the story. Just because they are walking around doesn’t mean they aren’t listening. Try to make story time engaging with textured books, funny voices, and colorful pictures to hold their attention longer.
Create a cozy spot in your home, wear Christmas pajamas, enjoy a treat together, turn on the fireplace, or play soft music in the background. Think of things that you enjoy as you wind down and read and incorporate those things into your story time with your kids.
I like to keep our Christmas books stored away in our Christmas decoration bins, so that when we start decorating for the holidays, the books come out too. This way, I know where they are and the kids are excited to have “new” books to read for the season.
