WHAT INSPIRED RAISING RESCUERS?
I (Rachel from A Mother Far From Home) thought of this concept after I felt God putting a burden on my heart for children throughout the world. When I had my firstborn I knew, deep inside, that I was made to be a mother. Calling, destiny, who knows? Inside my heart and spirit, the realization began to grow that if the only thing of value I ever did in my life was to raise my children to be world changers, then that was more than enough. I knew I would travel to the ends of the earth to protect my children, and God started to grow a strong desire to see other children protected and nurtured as well. I would go to the ends of the earth and back to rescue my children, sure. But there are children in this world who have no one to go far and wide to protect them. I started to think about how can we reach the most children. Mother Theresa’s quote came to mind, “What can you do to promote world peace? Go home and love your family.” It all starts at home. And if, at homes across the world, we parent with the aim of empowering our children to reach the lost and hurting then maybe – just maybe – future generations would see a change.
IS THERE ONE PLACE I CAN GO TO READ RAISING RESCUER POSTS?
We will post Raising Rescuer posts written by the Founding Mothers and by you all on this page. If you want your post to be featured on the Raising Rescuer posts page then send an email to raisingrescuers@gmail.com with ‘Post Submission‘ in the subject. We will post a snippet then link the article back to your blog. We hope to have many many posts fill the page so that we can all be inspired and encouraged.
ARE YOU AFFILIATED WITH A PARTICULAR CHURCH OR DENOMINATION?
As we are not an organization, as such, we are not linked with a church or denomination. Raising Rescuers is meant to be inclusive, not exclusive, and so in order to prevent doctrinal differences or opinions from muddying the waters, we are open and welcoming to all who feel inspired by the vision.
DO I HAVE TO BE A CHRISTIAN TO JOIN?
While I believe an essential part of Raising Rescuers in my home is to lead my children to Jesus Christ and help them to live a life encouraged in God’s Word, anyone is welcome who wants to begin Raising [their little] Rescuers to go out and change their world for the better.
HOW OFTEN WOULD I HAVE TO POST?
There is no limit, high or low. If you feel inspired to share once a week or once a month, or even once a quarter, that is up to you. We hope you’ll post any time you have a tip, story or word that can offer others encouragement. Remember, the more often we think about how we can Raise Rescuers, and post about it, the more we can be responsible for – even subtly – changing the perspective of parenting from simply surviving to helping mould world changers.
WHAT IF I HAVE NO PRACTICAL SKILLS TO TEACH?
Raising Rescuers isn’t simply about teaching our children practical skills. It’s also about teaching more abstract concepts like righteousness, humility, courage, integrity, compassion, hospitality, a hunger for justice, friendship and on and on. There may be many areas in which we can teach our children – using every day situations – that help teach them to look outside themselves to the needs of others. Don’t be shy if you don’t know how to sew, build or change a flat. You can share in your area of expertise.
WHO FOUNDED RAISING RESCUERS?
Raising Rescuers was founded by me, Rachel, from A Mother Far from Home with Franziska and Julie as Founding Mothers.
WHY DO I HAVE TO PUT A LINK BACK TO THE RAISING RESCUERS HOMEPAGE IN MY POSTS?
Because we want Raising Rescuers to be a movement that spreads from blogger to blogger, there needs to be a clear path back to the site so everyone interested can sign up and be counted. If your posts inspire we want others who are interested in signing up to be able to do so themselves. It is a matter of honor and respect to us for you to be clear about Raising Rescuers’ origins. Additionally, we want to be able to visit the Raising Rescuers bloggers sites and reference articles through social media and newsletters. If we have no idea who is blogging with us we’ll miss out on so much wisdom. By referring everyone back to the homepage we’ll be able to keep a count of how many people are on this journey with us. The address to link is www.raisingrescuers.com.
WHO RUNS THE ADMINISTRATION AND ANSWERS RAISING RESCUERS EMAILS?
I (Rachel) do all the admin and emailing answering as of right now. I am a stay-at-home [and employed from home] mom as well so if it changes, I’ll keep you posted.
WHAT IF MY KIDS ARE OUT [OR ALMOST OUT] OF THE HOUSE, IS IT TOO LATE TO START A RAISING RESCUERS JOURNEY?
Once a mom, always a mom, I say. If your kids are about to leave or are already out, we’d still love to hear past reflections, memories, lessons learned, and anything else you have to offer.
